About Cookies
Cookies are simply small files which are stored on a user’s computer. They are designed to hold a modest amount of data specific to a particular client and website, and can be accessed either by the web server or the client’s computer. Cookies cannot harm a computer and do not contain any personal or private information. Most computers have cookies that are enabled, but it may be that some computers have these turned off. Further details about cookies, including how to enable cookies, can also be found at www.allaboutcookies.org.
UCEA website
While some websites will also use cookies to enable them to target their advertising or marketing messages, this website does not automatically store or capture personal information. UCEA’s website simply logs your IP address, which is automatically recognised by the web server. This also allows UCEA to track user visits to certain pages via Google analytics. Some sections and documents of the UCEA website are password protected so a limited amount of member-specific information has to be stored in the website’s database. This information is only accessible to the named user and UCEA staff and the website’s hosting agency and these ‘cookies’ avoid the need to re-input details each time they visit a password protected area of the website.
Security
UCEA takes every precaution to protect personal information. UCEA does not pass on any personal information members have provided to any other websites. The system will record user’s email address, and other information if volunteered by them to UCEA, for example on application or feedback forms. This will be treated as proprietary and confidential. It may be used to respond to a query or to notify about updates to www.ucea.ac.uk.
The website contains links to other websites. This privacy policy applies only to our site. You should always be aware when you are moving to another site and read the privacy statement of any site which collects personal information. Please remember that you can choose to accept or decline cookies. Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your browser setting to decline cookies if you prefer. This may prevent you from taking full advantage of the website.
First and third party cookies
Cookies may be set by the website you are visiting (‘first party cookies’) or they may be set by other websites who run content on the page you are viewing (‘third party cookies’). First party cookies are set by the website, you are visiting and they can only be read by that site. Third party cookies, not relevant to UCEA’s site, are set by a different organisation to the owner of the website you are visiting.

Changes to this privacy policy
The New EU cookie law (e-Privacy Directive) applies to use of cookies and similar technologies for storing information on a user’s equipment. However, the ICO revealed it would consider "implied consent" to be good enough - meaning sites can simply tell users that by continuing to use the site, cookies will be used. Read more at: http://www.pcpro.co.uk/news/374875/ico-surprises-with-last-minute-cookies-changes#ixzz1x1WDiMAH. If this privacy policy changes in any way, UCEA will place the revised policy on this page. This page will always tell you what information UCEA collects, how we use it, and under what circumstances, if any, we will share it with other parties.
