A-Z of employing clinical academics: A workshop for HR specialists with medical & dental schools

Join us for this updated version of the workshop previously entitled Introduction to the Employment of Clinical Academic staff

This online workshop will run from 10 am1 pm on Monday 23 May and will cover the essentials of employing clinical academic doctors and dentists in HEIs. It is aimed at those who would like a comprehensive introduction to this area and may also be useful to HR professionals who wish to refresh their knowledge of issues surrounding the recruitment and employment of clinical academic doctors and dentists.

This workshop will cover much the same material as previously but will now include updated information on clinical excellence awards and other considerations that impact on clinical academics from an employment perspective, as follows:
  • Joint working with the NHS (the Follett principles)
  • Substantive and honorary contracts
  • Licensing and revalidation
  • Pay (consultants and trainees/junior doctors)
  • Developments in excellence awards

This event, led by Nicola Carter, Head of HR Advice at UCEA, will take participants through the key issues that HR colleagues involved in the employment lifecycle of clinical academics need to be fully aware of. There will be opportunities to ask questions and clarify issues throughout the event.
