The employment of clinical academics - current and future issues conference

Thursday 30 January 2020 will see the ninth run of this annual conference which brings together those with a direct interest in the employment and management of clinical academic staff in higher education.

Professor Debra Humphris, Vice-Chancellor, University of Brighton and Chair of CASAG will chair the conference.
 
Speakers confirmed to date are:
  • Sam Illingworth, Director of Education Quality & Reform, Health Education England who will speak on The NHS People Plan – Implications for HE employers.
  • Professor Carol Woodhams, Professor of Human Resource Management and Head of People and Organisations Department, University of Surrey who will speak about the findings of the research into the gender pay gap in medicine. 
  • Emelda Nicholroy, UCEA Head of Pensions Policy and a speaker from NHS Pensions will look at the approaches being taken to assist senior academic clinicians in understanding and managing issues with pensions tax.
  • Dorothea Baltruks, Senior Policy and Research Officer, Council of Deans will share new information on career pathways for nurses, midwives and allied health professionals and the implications for HEI employment practice and policy.
  • Helen Mortlock, Legal Director, Eversheds Sutherland solicitors who will give a Legal Update on cases with implications for clinical academic staff.

The conference will take place in central London on Thursday 30 January

The conference is expected to run between 10.00 am and 3.30 pm (registration from 9.30 am).
